I collaborated with photographer Nessa Hendriksen to translate her creative vision into an image-forward WordPress website that reflects her style and gives her photography room to speak for itself.
Nessa had a clear idea of how she wanted the website to look and feel. Through close collaboration, I brought that vision into focus through UI/UX design and web development, creating an experience that balanced visual personality with practical navigation and usability.
01 · The Challenge
Building around the photographer’s vision
The website needed to feel like an extension of Nessa’s photography, rather than a template competing for attention. Her images needed to remain the center of the experience while visitors could still move easily between her services, galleries, pricing information, client access, and contact page.
The challenge was turning her visual ideas into a functional digital experience that remained organized, approachable, and easy to use.
02 · The Approach
Turning creative direction into a usable interface
I worked closely with Nessa to understand the look she envisioned and how she wanted visitors to experience her work. That collaboration guided the layout, visual hierarchy, navigation, gallery organization, and overall rhythm of the website.
Each decision was made to support the photography while helping visitors find the information most relevant to them without unnecessary distractions.
03 · The Solution
An image-forward website with a clear purpose
The finished website organizes Nessa’s photography into dedicated galleries for families, headshots, children, maternity, newborns, seniors, and weddings.
Clear navigation connects prospective clients with her portfolio, investment information, client login, and contact options while maintaining a cohesive visual experience across the site.
04 · My Contribution
UI/UX design and web development working together
My contribution included translating the client’s creative direction into the website’s interface, organizing the content and galleries, refining the user experience, and developing the final WordPress site.
The project required both visual sensitivity and technical execution, ensuring that the website reflected Nessa’s vision while remaining responsive, functional, and easy for visitors to navigate.
05 · The Result
A digital home that feels true to the photographer
The completed website gives Nessa a professional online presence that feels aligned with her work and the experience she wants to create for her clients.
More than simply displaying photographs, the site brings her creative vision, services, and client resources together within one cohesive digital experience.
